Gingerbread Cookie Cocktail in a glass mug rimmed with vanilla frosting and sprinkles.

This gingerbread cocktail is a sweetly spiced Christmas drink made with vodka, Kahlua, milk or half and half, and gingerbread syrup.

You can buy your gingerbread syrup (I prefer this one from Torani) or make your own gingerbread simple syrup with the easy recipe included below.

Ingredients

This section includes ingredient notes and substitution options. Get all measurements, ingredients, and instructions in the printable recipe card at the end of this post.

  • gingerbread syrup – You can buy a bottle of gingerbread syrup or make your own using the easy recipe below.
  • vodka – Use your brand of choice
  • half and half – Milk can be used instead, the drink will just be slightly less creamy.
  • Kahlua – Or your favorite coffee liquor
  • vanilla frosting and sprinkles – for dressing up the rim of the glass (This sprinkle mix is perfect for this cocktail)
  • ice

If making your own gingerbread simple syrup you will need water, sugar, molasses, cinnamon, and ground ginger as well.

How to Make a Gingerbread Cocktail

This section shows you how to make the recipe with step-by-step photos and instructions. For the full printable recipe, see the recipe card below.

If making gingerbread syrup from scratch, heat water and sugar over medium heat, whisking together until it becomes steamy and sugar dissolves. Add molasses, ground ginger, and cinnamon. Continue whisking 2-3 minutes more until ingredients are combined and everything is dissolved together. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

Now for the cocktail itself.

Step 1. To rim the glass, add a few Tablespoons of Christmas sprinkles to a shallow saucer. Using a butter knife, spread a thin layer of frosting to the rim of the glass. Dip the frosting layer into the sprinkles.

Step 2. Fill the glass halfway with ice, followed by the vodka, half and half, Kahula, and gingerbread simple syrup.

Tips for the Best Gingerbread Cookie Cocktail

  • If you have a cocktail shaker handy feel free to use it to mix this Christmas cocktail. It will give the cocktail more of a chill than stirring in the glass.
  • Elevate the look of your cookie cocktail with a gingerbread man cookie garnish.
  • Instead of rimming the glass with sprinkles you could top your gingerbread syrup cocktail with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
