Dessert dips are such a fun way to take the flavors of classic desserts and turn them into a dunkable, scoopable dip!

Chocolate chip cookie dough dip, for example, tastes like cookies; brownie batter dip tastes like brownies; and this 3-ingredient s’mores dip tastes just like s’mores! Now we’ve got this incredible mint chocolate chip cheesecake dip that tastes like mint chocolate chip ice cream or shamrock shake.

More often than not, they’re no-bake desserts, which means we get all the benefits of the flavors without having to worry about turning on the oven, using any fancy kitchen gadgets, or, in the case of s’mores, lighting a campfire.

And there’s nothing better than a virtually effortless way to serve a crowd. Easy entertaining for the win! This mint chocolate dip is perfect for game day parties, birthday parties, and St. Patrick’s Day family gatherings.

Serve it with all your favorite dippers for a tasty treat any crowd will love!

Ingredients for mint chocolate chip dip, including cream cheese, whipped topping, sugar, mint extract, green food coloring, and mini chocolate chips.
  • Cream cheese – Soften the cream cheese at room temperature before beginning.
  • Confectioners’ sugar – Also known as powdered sugar, this sweetens the dip, giving it a cheesecake flavor without leaving gritty granules behind.
  • Mint extract – Gives the dip its mint flavor. Look for “Mint Extract” rather than “Peppermint Extract” as peppermint is stronger and has a bit of a different flavor.
  • Green gel food coloring – I prefer to use gel food coloring as it is much more vibrant and concentrated than liquid food coloring, so you’ll only need a few drops.
  • Whipped topping – I use Cool Whip, which will need to be thawed completely. You could also make homemade stabilized whipped cream using heavy whipping cream if you prefer.
  • Mini chocolate chips – Keep some extra for garnish.

How to Make Mint Cheesecake Dip

This section shows you how to make the recipe with step-by-step photos and instructions. For the full printable recipe, see the recipe card below.

Three-step process in making mint chocolate chip dip in a glass mixing bowl, showing progression from whipped cream cheese to green mint mixture with chocolate chips.

Step 1: Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to beat the cream cheese in a large bowl until smooth.

Step 2: Mix in the powdered sugar, mint extract, and food coloring. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl with a rubber spatula and mix until smooth and combined.

Pro Tip:

Start with a few drops of green food coloring. You can go a little darker at first because the Cool Whip will lighten it up. However, don’t go overboard; it’s easier to add color than to remove it.

Step 3: Fold in the whipped topping and chocolate chips.

Step 4: Transfer the mixture to a serving bowl and sprinkle with extra chocolate chips on top! Enjoy with cookies, fruit, and other fun dippers.

Storage

Refrigerator: Keep mint chocolate chip dip stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Recipe Tips

  • Be sure to gently fold in the Cool Whip and chocolate chips. Do not overmix; otherwise, the dip will no longer be fluffy.
  • Softening the cream cheese will help ensure it mixes evenly without leaving clumps of cream cheese mixed in your dip.
  • You can prepare this dip up to 2 days in advance. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and keep it refrigerated until you’re ready to serve it. Give it a stir and sprinkle with extra chocolate chips before serving.
