3-Ingredient S’mores Dip
Who doesn’t love a S’more? Sitting by a cozy bonfire while roasting marshmallows, unwrapping candy bars, and sandwiching them together between graham crackers — it’s a classic campfire treat. But when you’re craving that combination of melty chocolate and gooey marshmallows and there’s no fire pit in sight, this smores dip recipe hits the spot.
Made with just 3 simple ingredients and ready in about 5 minutes, this oven-baked s’mores dip captures all the deliciousness of traditional s’mores but in a less messy, more convenient form.
The best part? You can enjoy this chocolatey dip year round, no need to wait for camping season. Whether you’re snuggling up for movie night at home or looking for something sweet to make on game day, this dip has got you covered.
Graham crackers may be the classic dipper for s’mores dip, but it’s not the only one. It pairs beautifully with pretzels or potato chips for a sweet and salty combination or sliced apples, strawberries, or bananas if you want to spoon it over some fruit.
Ingredients for Gooey S’more Dip
This section includes ingredient notes and substitution options. Get all measurements, ingredients, and instructions in the printable recipe card at the end of this post.

- Chocolate Chips — High-quality milk chocolate chips such as Ghirardelli or Guittard work best for this recipe. Hershey’s milk chocolate bars are a great option too. However, I would avoid dark or semisweet chocolate chips. They won’t melt as well and don’t give that classic s’mores flavor.
- Marshmallows — Grab a bag of your favorite brand of marshmallows. Although I like to use homemade marshmallows or regular-sized marshmallows, jumbo marshmallows (cut them in half) or mini marshmallows will work as well.
- Graham Crackers — Everyone’s favorite dipper — you can’t have s’mores without crunchy graham crackers. Regular, honey, or cinnamon varieties are all delicious. You could also grab some Teddy Grahams for the kids, though it will get a little messier since they’re smaller.
Equipment Needed
All you need to make this easy recipe is a baking dish (8×8 or 9×9) or a cast iron skillet. A round or square dish will work.
How to Make S’mores Dip
This section shows you how to make the recipe with step-by-step photos and instructions. For the full printable recipe, see the recipe card below.

- Place a layer of chocolate chips in the bottom of an 8- or 9-inch pie plate or baking dish
- Arrange the marshmallows in a single layer on top of the chocolate chips.
- Bake for 4-5 minutes or until the chocolate has melted and the toasted marshmallows are golden brown.
- Serve warm with graham crackers for dipping.
Tip
Place marshmallows vertically (so you see the flat tops) to fit more marshmallow goodness into the pan.

Storage and Freezing
Refrigerator: For best results, enjoy the dessert dip immediately. After a while, it will begin to harden. However, you can store leftover dip in the fridge in an airtight container for a couple of days.
Reheating: Reheat in the microwave or oven until the chocolate is melted. If you’re reheating in the oven, you may need to cover the pan with aluminum foil to avoid burning the marshmallows.
Freezer: Freezing is not recommended.
Tips and Tricks
- Bake on center rack: Keep the pan in the middle of the oven away from the heating elements. If it’s too close to the top, the marshmallows may burn and if it’s too close to the bottom, the melted chocolate may scald and harden.
- Watch closely: Keep a close eye on the dip while it’s in the oven because the marshmallows can turn from toasty and golden to burnt very quickly.
- Small batch: You can halve the ingredients and make the dip in small loaf pan or baking dish. Or bake individual servings in ramekins so everyone gets their own dip!
- Double batch: Make s’mores dip for a crowd in a 9×13 dish by doubling the ingredients.

Microwave S’mores Dip
You can make a half batch of the dip in the microwave. Halve all the ingredients, add a Tablespoon of butter or neutral oil such as vegetable oil to the chocolate chips, and top with mini marshmallows instead of regular marshmallows. Heat carefully since marshmallows expand quickly when microwaved; they will not get toasty. Stir together before serving.
Additions and Variations
Make it with Hershey bars. Use Hershey bars instead of chocolate chips if you want that authentic s’mores flavor. Line your baking pan with chocolate bars and then top with marshmallows.
Pair with different dippers. Graham crackers are the traditional dipper for s’mores dessert dip, but don’t be afraid to branch out! Chocolate chip cookies, chocolate wafers, ginger snaps, or vanilla wafers are good cookie choices. If you like a sweet and salty combination, try it with Ritz crackers, pretzels, or potato chips.
Spoon over fresh fruit. Slice up some bananas, fresh strawberries, or apples, and spoon this chocolatey, marshmallowy dip over the top. Yum!
Add peanut butter chips. With a combination of milk chocolate chips and peanut butter chips, your baked s’mores dip will taste like Reese’s! Or you could even use Reese’s peanut butter cups to make your s’mores dip!
