How to Make Chocolate Chip Cookies from Scratch
- MAKE DOUGH: Combine ingredients to make cookie dough. Fold in chocolate chips.
- SCOOP: Use a cookie scoop or large spoonfuls to drop batter onto a baking sheet.
- BAKE: Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown.
Additions & Substitutions
- Nuts: If you like some extra crunch in your cookies, add ½ cup of walnuts or pecans.
- Oatmeal: Add ½ cup of oatmeal for a chewier twist to these cookies.
- Chocolate chunks: If you prefer your cookies with chocolate chunks (instead of chocolate chips) swap them out for the same amount.

Kitchen Tips
- Take the cookies out of the oven when they are just barely golden brown around the edges. Leaving them in for longer will cause the bottom of the cookies to become too crunchy.
- When adding your hot water and baking soda together, make sure that your water is hot to the touch and that the baking soda completely dissolves. Try stirring it with a whisk or fork to help it dissolve.
- Skip the mixer. You can easily make this 2 dozen cookie recipe by stirring it with a spoon so that you don’t have to get out your mixer.

Best tasting cookies and very easy to make.
i am making this
I’m second guessing my sanity as I read Positive reviews. I followed the recipe exactly as written and they taste awful. Not to mention the consistency of the dough and how they never melted in the oven or turned golden brown after baking in 350 for 18 minutes!!
