Watermelon Lemonade - so Refreshing

Watermelon lemonade is a light and refreshing summertime drink that is easy to make with fresh watermelon, lemons, and sugar.

That’s right–3 simple ingredients plus water are all that you need to make fresh homemade watermelon lemonade recipe.

Perfectly sweet and tangy, this refreshing summer drink is perfect for parties and celebrations. Make a pitcher for your next summer party, BBQ, bridal shower, or wedding shower.

It is also wonderful to enjoy while simply relaxing on the porch after a long day.

Ingredients

watermelon, measuring cup of water, bowl of sugar, 3 lemons

You will need…

  • watermelon – Half a regular watermelon or a whole seedless watermelon. Enough for 6-7 cups of cubed watermelon.
  • lemons – 2-3 lemons, or enough for ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • sugar – start with ½ cup of sugar, you can always add more to taste, if desired
  • water

How to make watermelon lemonade

In a small saucepan, make a simple syrup by bringing ½ cup water and sugar to a boil over high heat. Reduce to medium-low and simmer until sugar is dissolved, stirring frequently.

Remove from heat and allow to cool.

Puree watermelon in a blender and until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any seeds or thick pieces of watermelon.

Add the 3 cups of watermelon puree, cooled simple syrup, lemon juice, and 3 cups of water to a pitcher.

Stir gently to combine.

Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Serve over ice and garnish with a wedge of watermelon, if desired.

Recipe Tips

  • If the beverage sits for a while it will separate a bit, so give it a quick stir before serving.
  • For a lighter drink replace the sugar with your favorite sugar substitute.
  • Turn this into a tasty watermelon lemonade cocktail by adding a splash of vodka.
  • Use a lemon squeezer to get the most juice out of your lemons.
