I love it when I can recreate flavorful drinks from my favorite coffee shops and restaurants at home. This is especially true in this case because the refreshing watermelon drink that inspired this recipe is only available in Japan!

No need to book a plane ticket though – you can easily recreate this flavorful watermelon iced tea at home.

How to make the watermelon refresher drink

This section shows you how to make the recipe with step-by-step photos and instructions. For the full printable recipe, see the recipe card below.

Step 1: The first step is to brew the passionfruit tea. Steep the bags in boiling water for 5 minutes, then remove the tea bags and let the tea cool completely. I let it sit at room temperature for around 30 minutes then refrigerate for another 30 minutes.

Step 2: Once cooled, add the tea, watermelon juice, and lime juice to a pitcher. Stir to combine.

Additions and Variations

  • Add some fresh fruit to the glasses such as berries or cubes of seedless watermelon.
  • Garnish with mint leaves or fresh watermelon instead of lime.
  • Add your favorite liquor for an adult version.
  • For stronger flavor allow the tea bags to steep for longer.
