Homemade Halloween Gift for Adults
This recipe makes quite a bit of moonshine.
However, it would make an excellent gift for friends or Halloween party favor. For example, what parent wouldn’t want to leave a crazy Halloween party for their kids with a jar of this delicious flavored moonshine in their hands?
If you’re giving the jars of moonshine as a gift, consider making labels that have the name of the drink along with a decorative font and background. This will take the gift completely over the top.
If you’re late on getting the drink to the right infusion stage, just tell your gift recipients how to store the drink until it’s ready to be served.
Drink responsibly and have a very Happy Halloween!

- 4 cups of strawberries sliced
- 40 Hot Tamales candy
- 4 cups Everclear

Can you use the Frozen Strawberries
Sure, I would just let the strawberries defrost first.
Can you provide a link to the silver sparkle/ shimmer? Thank you!
Something like this or this will work – enjoy!
You can find it on ebay. I bought a small jar off there. Look under edible glitter.
You say the recipe makes quite a bit, but in each Mason jar there would be a cup of everclear, 1/4 cup simple syrup, a cup of strawberries, and 10 tamales. Am I missing something? Is there not anything else that goes in? It just seems as if it would be REALLY strong. Just checking because I would really like to make this.
Nope, you got it! It is REALLY strong!
Could you use vodka instead of Everclear?
Sure! That would work as well!
Although well last Halloween, looking for something different to bring to a super bowl party. Do the Hot Tamales fully dissolve? You mention only straining the strawberries.
They should fully dissolve, especially if you shake up the jar well while it sits. But if any pieces do remain, they end up getting stained out with the strawberries.
Is there any harm by not straining the strawberries??
Straining gets out the pieces of strawberries so that the moonshine will be nice and smooth (rather than chunky).
Does this have to be refrigerated? I’m making this as a surprise for my son and daughter and their spouses. I want to allow it to sit for several month before I give it to them and 4 qt jars takes up a lot of room in a small refrig. Wouldn’t it be ok after straining out the strawberries to allow it to sit in a cool dark place?
As long as it is cool and dark it should be fine.
Can’t wait to try this! Wondering what proof everclear you used – we have 151 and 190 here.
Thanks!

We used 190 proof but either will do the trick 🙂 Enjoy!
Hello. I’m trying this recipe (Black widow venom shine). In process of making it. It calls for 16 oz jars. So I went with the recipe n it comes to a half of jar. So what else goes in it to fill the jar??
I am wondering the same thing. What else goes into the jars to fill up the space? I think this is going to taste like fire and strawberry/cinnamon by itself
this recipe is incomplete. should have more liquid to fill the jars. I make shine and all recipes call for alot of juice or water?
Going make a batch
