How to Make Sugar Cookie Fudge

Start by gathering everything that you will need, which will be simple since this fudge recipe only calls for 5 simple ingredients.

Ingredients

  • white chocolate chips
  • sugar cookie mix
  • sweetened condensed milk
  • butter
  • Christmas sprinkles (or rainbow sprinkles if you prefer)

Supplies

  • 9 x 9 baking dish
  • parchment paper
  • non-stick spray
  • large pot
  • spoon / spatula, for stirring

Now it is time to get down to business.

Line a 9×9 baking dish with parchment paper and a thin layer of non-stick spray and set aside. The parchment paper and non-stick spray will help you remove the fudge easily once it has set.

Next, heat the sweetened condensed milk over medium heat in a large pot. Once hot, stir in the white chocolate chips, sugar cookie mix, and butter.

Sugar Cookie Christmas Fudge

Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 5 minutes
Set Time 2 hours
Total: 2 hours 10 minutes
Easy-to-make, 5-Ingredient, Sugar cookie Christmas fudge is a combo of two of my favorite treats: Christmas sugar cookies and fudge.

Ingredients

  • 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 ½ cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 ¼ cup sugar cookie mix I recommend heat-treating as per note below
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • christmas sprinkles or sprinkles of your choice

Instructions

  • Prepare a 9×9 baking dish with parchment paper and a thin layer of non-stick spray. Set aside.
  • Add sweetened condensed milk to a large pot and heat over medium heat, stirring often. Once hot, stir in the white chocolate chips, sugar cookie mix, and butter. Continue stirring until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in a generous amount of Christmas sprinkles.
  • Pour fudge mixture into the prepared dish and top with more sprinkles.
  • Place in refrigerator and allow to set overnight, or until firm (at least 2 hours). Slice into bite-size pieces and serve.

Notes

How to heat-treat cookie mix: Sugar cookie mix contains raw flour which should be "heat-treated" by heating it to 165°F to kill any potentially harmful bacteria. You can do this easily in the microwave or oven. Simply place the mix in a large microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until the temperature of the mix reaches 165°F on an instant-read thermometer. It shouldn’t take longer than 2 minutes in total. Or to heat-treat the mix in the oven, spread it onto a baking sheet and toast the mix at 350°F for 5 minutes, or until it reaches 165°F.
Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. For longer storage keep in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

Note: The recipe was updated in 2021 to include butter, which was not in the original ingredient list. This makes the recipe 5 ingredients, rather than the 4 ingredients it used to be. If you came here from a pin or post that said it has 4 ingredients, this is why.

  1. Had mine in the fridge overnight and it never set, still spongey.

Did you cover it when you put it in the fridge?

      1. In my original fudge recipe, they tell you to boil 5 minutes exactly. Do you have a time frame we could use to be sure it doesn’t become over cooked

      2. This recipe doesn’t call for boiling. You should heat the sweetened condensed milk over medium heat until hot (not boiling, just hot). Then immediately stir in sugar cookie mix, white chocolate, and butter. Continue stirring until the white chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth (it shouldn’t take long). Then remove from heat and pour into pan.

  2. I made this and it had a gritty texture? Is it suppose to be that way…..if not, what went wrong

    Thanks

  3. This recipe might need rethinking… it was extremely runny. Do you have the right amount of sugar cookie mix listed? I tried to tweak the recipe as I went once I realized that the original recipe was not going to work, but it still didn’t seem very thick. The sprinkles also immediately melted and turned the mix into an unappetizing color. We’ll see how it sets in the fridge overnight.

    1. The ingredient measurements are exactly what I use when I make the fudge and the recipe has also worked well for many of our readers.

I would love to help you troubleshoot though. What brand of sugar cookie mix did you use? I always use Betty Crocker so I am curious if that could have to do with it.

  4. My fudge came out more like taffy. Could it be from how long I cooked it (not long enough or too long)?

    1. It is more likely to be an issue with the ingredients and measurements. Did you use sweetened condensed milk or evaporated milk? What kind of white chocolate did you use? What kind of sugar cookie mix? (I am trying to see if I can find something in common for those whose fudge doesn’t set up correctly).

      1. I used sweetened condensed milk, private selection white chocolate chips and Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix.

  5. I saw some comments about the mix being too runny, I realized I accidentally bought evaporated milk at the store instead of condensed milk because they are right next to each other on the shelf at my Walmart. I looked up the difference and it says u can substitute condensed milk for evaporated milk, however when I made it I realized the evaporated milk is visibly too runny compared to the recipe photos. This may have been the issue with the other comments about the mix being too runny. I am going to try it again with the correct ingredients soon 😂

    1. Thank you for coming back to comment and let us know your experience–I think you might be on to something with the evaporated milk!! I have found that they really cannot be used interchangeably, especially when making fudge. I am glad that you are giving the recipe another try and I hope that you enjoy it 🙂

    1. You should be able to make this in the microwave, yes. I would microwave the white chocolate and the sweetened condensed milk together for 1 minute, stir, then return to micro in 30-second intervals until fully melted. Then add the other ingredients as per the recipe.

  6. I live in The Netherlands and we don’t have sugar cookie mix (as far as I’m aware but defintly not betty) can I make some myself? What is the recipe?
