Chicken Slider Ingredients: Tyson chicken nuggets, butter, Hawaiian rolls, marinara sauce, and shredded cheese.

You will start by gathering your ingredients. For this recipe, you will need:

  • Chicken nuggets – I used Frozen Tyson nuggets but you can use your favorite brand of chicken nuggets or even homemade chicken nuggets. Be sure to heat them as per package directions before making the chicken nugget sliders.
  • Slider buns – I use Kings Hawaiian Sweet Rolls for all my slider recipes.
  • Marinara sauce – Use your favorite brand of marinara sauce or spaghetti sauce.
  • Mozzarella cheese – I used shredded but you could also use sliced mozzarella cheese. Next time I might try a combo of sliced provolone and mozzarella- yum!
  • Butter
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Garlic powder – Fresh minced garlic would be great as well.
  • Italian seasoning

How to make chicken nugget parmesan sliders

This section shows you how to make the recipe with step-by-step photos and instructions. For the full printable recipe, see the recipe card below.

Step 1: Use a large serrated knife to slice slider buns to separate tops from bottoms. Do not separate the individual buns, just the top half of the rolls from the bottom half of the rolls.

Step 2: Place the bottom halves of the buns in a baking dish. I used a 9 x 13 casserole dish, but if you have a slightly smaller one that should work too.

Step 3: Cover bottom of buns with a layer of marinara sauce. Place a chicken nugget in the center of each bun, then top with the remaining marinara sauce.

Step 4: Add the mozzarella cheese.

Step 5: Microwave butter in a small bowl to melt (or use a small saucepan). Remove melted butter from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Brush the mixture onto the top of the buns.

Note: I may have gone a little overboard with the parmesan garlic topping on the buns. Next time I will cut it back just a bit.

Step 6: Bake chicken sliders as directed in the recipe card below.

Chicken Nugget Slider Variations

Spicy Kick: Add a little heat to your sliders by mixing some red pepper flakes or hot sauce into the marinara sauce before assembling. It’s perfect for those who crave a spicy twist on the classic.

Meat Lover’s Dream: If you want to up the meatiness, add crispy bacon or slices of pepperoni on top of the chicken nuggets before adding the marinara and cheese. It’s a carnivore’s delight.

Chicken Tenders: Crispy chicken tenders can be used in place of nuggets if that’s what you have on hand. You will need about 6 tenders, depending on the size.

Meatball Sliders: Replace the chicken nuggets with mini meatballs.

Buffalo Chicken Parm Sliders: Use buffalo chicken nuggets or toss the nuggets in buffalo sauce.

Chicken parm sliders are an easy weeknight dinner recipe made with chicken nuggets, hawaiian sweet rolls, a jar of marinara sauce, mozzarella and parmesan cheese, then topped with melted butter and seasonings.

Ingredients

  • 12 chicken nuggets prepared according to package instructions
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 ½ cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • ¼ cup butter
  • cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉. Coat a 9 x 13 baking dish with nonstick spray and set aside.
  • Using a large serrated knife, slice through slider rolls to separate top of the rolls from the bottoms. Do not separate the individual buns. Place bottom halves in a casserole dish. Cover with an even layer of marinara sauce. Place a chicken nugget on each bun and top with the remaining marinara. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Place on the tops of the rolls.
  • Melt butter in the microwave or using a small saucepan. Remove from heat. Stir in parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Brush onto bun tops.
  • Cover with tin foil and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and sliders are warmed through. Remove the foil and bake for 2-3 additional minutes, until the buns are golden brown.
