Whether you are looking for an easy snack idea for the family or for apple recipes to make with all the apples you bought home from apple picking, you (and the kids!) are going to love this recipe.

Caramel apple nachos take just 10 minutes to make and taste amazing. It is kind of like eating a deconstructed caramel apple – yum! For another caramel-apple-inspired dessert give my 4-ingredient caramel apple dip recipe a try.

Unlike many common apple desserts, apple nachos are served cold rather than arm, like Snickers apple salad.

How to Make Caramel Apple Nachos

Making apple nachos is as easy as slicing your apples, spreading them on a plate, and then add your desired toppings.

I used granny smith and red delicious apples for a pop of color, but you can use any apples. I love making apple nachos with Honeycrisp apples as well. Whatever your family prefers or whatever you have on hand works.

Ingredients: 3 red apples, 3 green apples, chocolate chips, pecans, caramel sauce.

We topped our caramel apple slices with chopped pecans, mini chocolate chips, caramel, and white chocolate. But you could switch up your toppings to include your family’s favorites.

Topping Ideas

  • sprinkles
  • ground cinnamon or apple pie spice
  • caramel sauce
  • melted chocolate
  • melted white chocolate
  • melted peanut butter or almond butter
  • nutella
  • peanuts
  • crushed pecans, walnuts, or almonds
  • mini chocolate chips
  • mini marshmallows
  • crushed candy bars
  • toasted coconut
  • pretzel pieces

The possibilities are endless. Use this recipe as a starting point and don’t be afraid to play around with different sauce and topping combinations.

Recipe Variations

Like I said, apple nachos can be customized in countless ways. Here are some delicious variation ideas to get you started:

Candy Apple Nachos

For a candy-inspired twist, use red and green apples topped with mini marshmallows, chopped caramel candies, and crushed toffee or candy-coated chocolates. Drizzle with melted caramel and chocolate, and finish with colorful sprinkles or crushed graham crackers for a fun, crunchy treat.

Loaded Apple Nachos

Make your apple nachos more decadent by adding mini chocolate chips, crushed nuts, and toasted coconut. Drizzle with a combination of melted chocolate and peanut butter, or Nutella, and sprinkle with crushed pretzels for a delicious sweet and salty flavor.

Healthy Apple Nachos

For a lighter option, top crisp apple slices with cinnamon, unsweetened coconut flakes, and granola. Drizzle with honey.

Peanut Butter Apple Nachos

If you love peanut butter, try tart apple slices topped with melted peanut butter, mini chocolate chips, chopped peanuts, and raisins. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon for warmth or a few mini pretzels for a salty, crunchy twist.

S’mores Apple Nachos

Combine apples and s’mores by using sweet apples like Fuji or Honeycrisp topped with mini marshmallows, crushed graham crackers, and chocolate chips. Drizzle with melted chocolate and marshmallow fluff, and broil for a few seconds to toast the marshmallows for a campfire-inspired dessert.

Loaded Caramel Apple Slices with melted white chocolate, caramel sauce, mini marshmallows, and chopped nuts.

How to Prevent Apple Slices from Browning

To minimize browning, consider soaking the apple slices in lemon water for 5 minutes before assembling the nachos. To do this, place the apple slices into a bowl, cover with water, and add 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice per cup of water used.

You can also soak the apple slices in a salt water solution, using 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt for each cup of water.

For either method, be sure to rinse the apple slices and pat dry before assembling your nachos.

    Storage

Apple nachos are best enjoyed fresh, as the apple slices can start to brown and lose their crispness over time. However, if you would like to try storing them for later I would recommend refrigerating them as soon as possible in an airtight container.

    1. The only thing I would do differently is I would be to toss the apple slices in lemon juice right away so they wouldn’t turn brown.
