Are you looking for a fun St. Patrick’s Day dessert recipe that you can make with the kids?

Maybe you need something for that school party that your kids didn’t bother to tell you about until the last minute or maybe you just want a fun snack for yourself.

Either way, these Pot of Gold Pretzels are quick, easy, and so much fun.

Like our Lucky Charms Cereal Bars, this recipe calls for literally four ingredients. That’s it.

The most difficult part is unwrapping all the Rolo candies.

St. Patrick’s Day Treat for Kids

This recipe is kid-friendly, and the kids will love helping in the kitchen.

Children of almost any age can help with this recipe, especially the unwrapping part. Because who wants to do that?

You will want to make sure your children don’t get too close when the candy comes out of the oven though!

It’s a great recipe to get kids in the kitchen and help them learn that making things in the kitchen can be fun and tasty.

If you’ve got 30 minutes to spend in the kitchen, you’ll easily be able to make enough Pot of Gold Pretzels for a huge crowd or just a classroom of children.

Best of all, if your children were nice enough to let you know in advance that they need a snack for the party, you can make these 2 to 3 days ahead of time. And, if you and the kids happen to eat them all before the party, it won’t take long to make another batch.

Great for Grown-Ups Too

Now, if you want to do something sweet for your sweetheart for St. Patrick’s Day, make a batch of Pot of Gold Pretzels and pop them into a cute container. Add a message on the box that says, “You’re my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.” You’ll look like a romance rock star and it’s an unexpected little gift for your partner.

Here is what you will need:

How to Make St. Patrick’s Day Pretzels

Putting together these treats is quite simple.

First, preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.

Next, place pretzels on parchment-lined cookie sheet.

Add a Rolo to the corner of each pretzel.

Then, place the pretzels in the oven for about 2-3 minutes. Just enough time to soften the chocolate.

Remove them from the oven and immediately sprinkle the top of each Rolo with gold sugar and place a rainbow bite in front of each Rolo. Allow the chocolate to set for 10-15 minutes and then they are ready to serve!

  • Preheat the oven to 250 °F.
  • Place pretzels on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Add one Rolo to the corner of each pretzel.

  4. Can you use the microwave instead of the oven? I want to make these with my students.

    1. Yes, placing them on a plate and using the microwave should be fine. It shouldn’t take long at all for the chocolate to melt slightly. I would just keep a close eye on them.

  5. Help! I made them last night and put them in a Tupperware container and most of the rolls look almost white now?! Do you think they weren’t completely cool before I closed the lid? Should I not keep them in an airtight container?

    1. Oh no, that must be very disappointing. It sounds like chocolate bloom. From what I have read it sounds like moisture or temperate changes can cause the chocolate to bloom so it could be from storing them before they have cooled or storing them in too humid of an environment. I had the same issue for the first time this past Christmas when I made Hershey kiss pretzels. The following day the chocolate kisses had all nearly all bloomed.

  6. I just made this tonight for the first time for tomorrow for St. Patty Day. It was quick and easy. I only had mine in the oven for about a min. or so when chocolate started to melt I have an old oven. My only problem is the Rolos kindof melted off the edge of the pretzels. Thanks for posting this on Pinterest I will probably make them again.
