How to Make Peppermint Bath Bombs
First, gather the necessary ingredients and supplies for this homemade peppermint bath bomb recipe.
Ingredients:
- baking soda
- epsom salt
- citric acid
- cornstarch
- fractionated coconut oil
- peppermint essential oil
- red or pink soap colorant
- candy canes
Supplies:
- bath bomb mold
- large glass or metal mixing bowl
- small mixing bowl
- whisk
- spatula
Start by combining all your dry ingredients, whisking them together well to break up any clumps.
In your small mixing bowl, combine all the wet ingredients.
Slowly add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, little by little, stirring before you add more. Once all ingredients have been combined and mixed together well, squeeze a bit of the mixture in your hands to see if it clumps well. If it doesn’t, add a teaspoon of water, mix, and try again. It should resemble damp sand.
Next, take out any frustration you may have on those candy canes.
Then, spoon a bit into each bath bomb mold.
Press the bath bomb mixture into each mold, using a spatula to press it down as very as possible.
Bring both sides of the molds together and close tightly.
Allow your bath bombs to set for 8-24 hours (I like to let them set overnight).
When it comes time to remove your bath bombs from the mold, tap lightly on the top of each mold before slowly lifting the top off.
When you are ready to enjoy a nice Christmas scented bubble bath, just pop a peppermint bath bomb into a hot bath and enjoy.

Equipment
- 3 bath bomb molds (I used a 2.2 inch mold)
Supplies
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup epsom salt
- 1/4 cup citric acid
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 Tablespoons water
- 2 Tablespoons fractionated coconut oil
- 10-12 drops peppermint essential oil
- 4-5 drops red or pink soap colorant
- 2-3 candy canes
Instructions
- In a large glass or metal mixing bowl, whisk to combine baking soda, epsom salt, citric acid and cornstarch.
- In a small mixing bowl, add the water, coconut oil, peppermint essential oil, and soap colorant. Stir well to combine.
- Very slowly, pour a little of the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. You want to add it slowly so the baking soda mixture does not bubble and become activated. Whisk to distribute the wet mixture. Add a little more of the wet mixture and whisk again. Finally, add the rest of the wet mixture and whisk well until fully combined.
- Place some of the bath bomb mixture into your hand and squeeze it. If it clumps like wet sand, then you are ready to move on to the next step. If not, add about 1 teaspoon of water and whisk again. You want the mixture to resemble damp sand. Set aside while you complete step 5.
- Put candy canes in a sealed plastic baggie bag and crush with a hammer or rolling pin. Place about 2 tsp of the crushed candy canes into each side of your bath bomb molds (6 total).
- Press the bath bomb mixture into each mold, using a spoon or spatula to press the mixture down as firmly as possible. To ensure the two sides stick together well, overfill each half of the mold slightly. Bring both sides of each mold together and press down to close tightly.
- Allow bath bombs to set fully before removing from mold (8-24 hours).
- When you are ready to remove your bath bombs from the mold, tap lightly on the top of each bath bomb and then slowly lift the top mold off. Repeat the process for the bottom mold.
