Ingredients

This section includes ingredient notes and substitution options. Get all measurements, ingredients, and instructions in the printable recipe card at the end of this post.

Bottle of vodka, box of pink Starburt gelatin, box of cherry Jello, can of whipped cream, Valentine sprinkles

Here is what you will need:

  • Pink Starburst Gelatin– this will form the pink layer of the shots
  • Cherry Jello – This will form the red layer of the shots.
  • Vodka – you can use your favorite brand
  • Water – you will need both boiling water and cold water to make the jello
  • Whipped cream & sprinkles – to top the shots with just before serving

Recipe Tips

  • Make ahead. While these shots are very simple to make, they do take quite a bit of time to set so I recommend you make them the day before your Valentine’s Day party so that they have plenty of time to set up overnight.
  • Use plastic cups. If using glass shot glasses you will need to either run a knife around the jello to loosen it from the glass or eat the shot with a spoon. For this reason I recommend using plastic shot cups, as they make it easy to squeeze the jello out.
  • Switch it up. Feel free to switch up the flavors with other varieties of Jello. Strawberry, raspberry, black cherry, and watermelon are all great options for a Valentine’s Day themed shot. Just be sure to use the same size packages as in the recipe or adjust the water and vodka amounts accordingly.
  • Use a baking pan. Place your jello shots in a baking pan to make their easier to carry to and from the fridge for chilling. You couls even use a disposable foil baking pan for easy party transport and clean up.
