Who doesn’t love making homemade ornaments for their Christmas tree?

That is why I love DIY Christmas ornament craft projects like these candle cork ornaments.
Wine Cork Candle Ornaments
These little wine cork candle ornaments made using old wine corks are not only super cute, but they are also very simple to make.
They are great for gifting to friends or relatives, or great to keep for your own tree.
If you are making these wine cork ornaments for your own tree I would recommend making several of them to place all throughout your tree.
Making these wine cork candle ornaments is a lot of fun and is honestly pretty relaxing. Sometimes just sitting in front of the TV working on a craft is the best way to unwind after a long day.
How to Make Cork Candle Ornaments
Making these cork ornaments is easy once you gather the necessary supplies.
For this candle ornament project you will need:
- red craft foam
- yellow pipe cleaner
- red ribbon
- wine cork
- thin pine garland
- floral wire
- hot glue gun or craft glue
- scissors
- pencil
- wire cutters (optional)
Start by cutting a circle out of the craft foam. Be sure that the circle is larger in diameter than your wine cork, as the foam will act as the base of the candle.
Use a circular object such as a bottle cap to trace the circle onto the foam before cutting, or just freehand the circle. Whatever works!
Then, glue the foam circle to the base of the wine cork.
Next, fashion a piece of thin artificial pine garland around the cork to form a mini wreath. Trim as necessary and attach using glue.
To make a flame, bent a piece of yellow pipe cleaner in half and stick the pointy ends into the cork.
Use red ribbon to make a small bow. Then glue the bow to the front of the candle, right above the wreath.
Finally, push a piece of floral wire into the back of the cork to serve as a hanger.
Allow the glue to dry then hang your ornament on your tree. Enjoy!

Equipment
- pencil
- Scissors
- hot glue gun or craft glue
- wire cutters (optional)
Supplies
- red craft foam
- wine cork
- thin artificial pine garland
- yellow pipe cleaner
- red ribbon
- floral wire
Instructions
- Trace a round object such as a bottle cap onto a piece of craft foam. Use an object that is a little bit larger than your cork so that it will form a base for your candle. If you don't have an object of the proper size to trace, just freehand the circle. Then, cut the circle out and glue the cork on top of the it, centered.
- Wrap a piece of artificial pine garland around the bottom of the cork. Trim as necessary and twist the ends together to form a small "wreath" circle to place at the bottom of the cork.
- Bend a small piece of yellow pipe cleaner in half to form the candle's flame. Cut your "flame" away from the rest of the pipe cleaner. Push the sharp ends of the bent pipe cleaner into the top of the cork to secure it in place.
- Tie a piece of red ribbon into a tiny bow. Glue the bow to the bottom of the cork ornament above the pine wreath.
- Cut a small piece of green floral wire to use as a hanger for your ornament. Push each end of wire into the top backside of the cork ornament.
