Made using refrigerated biscuit dough, stuffed with chocolate, and covered in holiday sprinkles, this easy monkey bread recipe is the perfect sweet treat to serve your family Christmas morning.
Ooey gooey pull-apart monkey bread is one of my all-time favorite breakfast treats.
Truth be told, monkey bread makes a killer dessert as well. All that sugar — and in this case chocolate — make it the perfect treat for any time of day. Just like these OREO cinnamon buns.
Christmas Monkey Bread
Treat your family to a little something sweet this holiday season with this chocolate-stuffed monkey bread recipe made with biscuit dough.
While all monkey bread is delicious, this Christmas monkey bread is especially amazing due to each little piece being stuffed with chocolate kisses.
Each bite is packed with flavor and oozing with chocolate. It is beyond incredible.
How to Make Monkey Bread with Biscuits
First, gather your ingredients and supplies.
Ingredients:
- 2 packages biscuit dough (more details on this below)
- 2 sticks unsalted butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 tbsp. cinnamon
- Hershey Kisses (any flavor)
- Christmas sprinkles
Supplies:
- bundt pan
- non-stick spray
- large plastic baggie
We use store-bought biscuit dough for this monkey bread recipe, making it super easy to prepare.
You can use Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Flaky Layers refrigerated Original biscuits or any other flaky biscuit dough.
Simple lay the biscuit dough out on a cutting board and cut each biscuit into quarters.
Pro Tip: Use a pizza roller to easily quarter the biscuit dough.
Then, working with one piece of dough at a time:
- flatten the dough
- add sprinkles
- add a kiss
- roll into a ball
Next, combine the white sugar and cinnamon in a large baggie.
Toss dough balls in the baggie, a few at a time, until well coated. Then, place the balls in a prepared bundt pan. Continue until all dough balls are coated and in pan.
Melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Pour sauce over dough in bundt pan.
Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until the outside of the dough turns deep golden brown.
Allow to cool for 10 minutes then turn over onto a plate. Add more sprinkles — you can never have too many sprinkles in my opinion!
Now this should be obvious but is worth mentioning: do not cut your monkey bread.
Use your fingers to pull apart pieces to eat. Yes, it will be sticky and messy, but it is so worth it.
Serve with a glass of Christmas breakfast punch for an extra special Christmas morning breakfast.
I hope you and your family enjoy this Christmas morning chocolate stuffed monkey bread recipe and that you have a very happy holiday.

I love monkey bread and this sounds so easy to make.
When I make monkey bread I sprinkle cinnamon sugar and brown sugar mixture on the biscuit dough as stated and put in bundt pan to bake for 30-45 min (usually less than 45).
Very yummy! One thing I would suggest is, if you can, change the language of the step where you make the mixture to toss the balls in to “combine white sugar and cinnamon”. When I read “combine sugar and cinnamon” I took that to mean all of the sugar, both kinds. So…a little improvising was needed gling forward haha. Maybe I should’ve just read the whole thing before I started to avoid my mistake, but I don’t want others to make a mistake too! Again, these are delicious and worth all the prep work!
So glad that you enjoyed the recipe! And I can totally see why the language in that step of the recipe was confusing. I will make that change to the recipe text so that there is no confusion moving forward, thank you for letting me know!
Can I cut the recipe in halve , to make for 4 people ?
Yes, you can halve the recipe. You could try baking it in a loaf pan. The oven time will be less so keep an eye on it though.
Does this amazing looking monkey bread need to be served warm or can it be made the day before serving?
Thank you!
The monkey bread is best warm and right out of the oven so I would recommend making it the morning you want to serve it. If you prefer a make-ahead option I recommend this delicious overnight french toast casserole.
