The truth about Nutrisystem food: Does it really taste good?

My husband, Neal, and I just concluded our 11th week on the Nutrisystem program.

Does Nutrisystem food taste good?

After having spent 11 weeks on the Nutrisystem Program I will tell you the truth about Nutrisystem Food.

I am not exaggerating when I tell you that I love Nutrisystem meals and snacks. Seriously, they taste amazing. I look forward to each and every meal and snack throughout my day. Even the shakes are delish!

Now, this is not to say that I fall in love with everything on the Nutrisystem menu. Sure there have been items that I tried that I didn’t enjoy. That is life. Sometimes you try things you don’t like. Everyone has their tastes and preferences when it comes to food.

The beauty of the Uniquely Yours plan is that you get to hand pick which items you would like to order. Just like at a restaurant, you look at the menu and make your selections.

My husband and I have similar tastes when it comes to food, and since we like to eat meals together we order the same things. Even though during the week we eat breakfast and lunch separately, we still like eating the same meals (we are weird like that).

  1. I see Marie Osmond on 4th for Nutrisystem. I wondered if the food had any taste to it. I would love to get Nutrisystem D for me and Nutrisystem for my daughter. We both need to lose weight. Thanks for the review.

  2. The food looks awesome and would love to try it. I’m Canadian so I don’t know their prices. I couldn’t afford it anyway. I’m a single income disability person, so that’s about it

  3. Nutrisystem meals look delicious. I’ve been really thinking about trying it, so it’s nice to follow your journey.

    1. Hi Kim! I have tried the TurboShakes and the NutriCrush shakes, which are both amazing! I haven’t tried the new FreshStart shakes with probiotics yet though, sorry!

  4. I tried it twice. Once before Marie O. became spokesperson & once after, believing that the food had to have gotten better if she was eating it. It hadn’t!! It was awful. I think you could have eaten the box it came in & it would have tasted about the same. Also, I had problems with quitting the program & having them stop it in a timely manner (as in many other complaints I’ve heard.) I really have trouble believing that she could have actually eaten that ‘food.’ Maybe that’s why she lost weight, she probably wasn’t able to actually eat much of it. If you have really eaten their ‘food,’ & truthfully say that you like it, I’m curious about what you think of ‘real’ food.

    1. I’m wondering if you can “doctor” it up with seasoning. I really want to try I it but this is my biggest fear.

    2. I agree. I tried Nutri System several years ago and the food was horrible. I was thinking about trying it again if the food tastes better, but I think it’s difficult to get an honest opinion from these reviews.

      1. About how many years ago did you try the program? Did you try Nutrisystem’s frozen foods? I find that their frozen meals are generally much tastier than their shelf-stable meals.
I would suggest checking the current Nutrisystem menu online and see if it has new items or the same items that you tried and weren’t happy with.

  5. My hubby has been on it for the past 6 weeks, and to me it was a huge disappointment from when I used it years ago, then it was pretty good. But now, when I look at it, it is totally DEPLORABLE! They brag about the pizza (cardboard, catsup, and nearly dry cheese) for example. There is a lot of planning, weighing, and deprivation. But if you want pop corn, you got it. Some “meals” are no more than a dry granola bar. They were three days late with the second automatic order, and was only 1/3 full. Only 13 dinners for an entire month. Everything was in sealed baggies, a lot of something called BBQ chicken…which turns out to be a mush of sauce and….I guess bit of chicken. It’s awful. It definitely not worth the money. Shame on them.

  6. I have just ordered my first month of food. I hope I can get started on good food. I figured I would give it three months and see what happens. Wish me luck

  7. I ordered and was disappointed that my “chef picks” was mostly protein bars and muffins for breakfast also included some frozen pancakes and waffle More bars for lunch along with some frozen entrees that were wraps with broccoli and cheese, bbq chicken. Dinners received 8 frozen entrees parm chicken, pizza and a pasta. The most disappointing was the shelf stable inedible entrees. Bean soup about 1/2 cup, meatballs, bean pasta it is inedible along with the Mac and cheese. The only good thing is the snacks and the chocolate shakes I am canceling my order and taking the hit and paying the cancellation fee of $125 simply because I don’t want to mess with packing up the shelf stapes to return. Lesson learned!
