Get dinner on the table fast with these hot and hearty Philly Cheesesteak Sliders made with ground beef, peppers, onions, and provolone cheese. They're easy, delicious, and always a hit with the family.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Slice the rolls in half crosswise through the middle to separate the tops from the bottoms. Place the bottom halves in the bottom of your baking dish and set aside.
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, peppers, onions, and seasonings over medium heat until the meat is browned and cooked through. Drain grease well, and return the meat mixture to the pan.
Add 6 slices of provolone cheese to the pan and allow it to melt slightly. Then, stir until the cheese is melted and mixed into the meat mixture.
Spread the meat mixture over the rolls, add slices of provolone cheese, and top with the top halves of the rolls.
Melt the butter in a small bowl in the microwave or in a small saucepan over medium heat. Use a basting brush to add melted butter to the tops of the rolls. Immediately sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake the sliders for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the tops of the sandwiches are golden brown.
Slice the rolls into individual sandwiches and serve. Garnish with parsley, if desired.
Notes
For sliders that are truer to the classic Philly cheesesteak, use thinly sliced steak instead of ground beef.
Fresh peppers and onions can be used instead.
Feel free to swap out the provolone with your favorite cheese, such as Swiss, American, or pepperjack.
Spice up the recipe by adding some diced jalapeños.
Chopped mushrooms can be added for extra flavor and to stretch the recipe.
