Chicken divan is a casserole-style dish packed with freshly steamed broccoli and hearty chicken bathed in a cheesy and creamy white sauce. This 35-minute dinner is a rich, hearty, and comforting meal perfect for dinner parties and busy weeknights alike!
Ingredients
3cupscooked chickendiced or shredded
3cupsbroccolicut into small florets
4Tablespoonsbutterdivided
¼cupdiced onion
1celery stalkdiced
1teaspoonminced garlic
110.5 ounce can condensed Cream of Mushroom soup
½cupmilk
½cupmayonnaise
½cupsour cream
1teaspoonworcestershire sauce
½teaspoonmustard powder
salt and pepperto taste
2cupsshredded cheddar cheesedivided
½cuppanko breadcrumbs
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375° and spray a 9x13 inch casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large pot, add an inch of water and heat to simmering. Add the broccoli and place a lid on the pot. Steam the broccoli for 4 minutes or until the broccoli turns a bright green. Remove from the pan immediately and set aside.
In a large saute pan, melt 2 Tablespoons of butter and cook the onion, celery, and garlic for 4 minutes.
Add the soup, milk, mayonnaise, sour cream, worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, salt, pepper, and 1 cup of the cheese. Stir and cook until the cheese has melted and everything is well-combined.
Stir in the broccoli and chicken and transfer to the baking dish.
Top with remaining cheese. Melt the remaining butter and stir into the panko. Sprinkle the panko topping evenly over the top of the casserole.
Bake for 25 minutes or until bubbly and the cheese has melted.
Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
If using frozen broccoli you can steam it in the microwave according to the directions on the package and skip step 1 of the recipe.Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
