Cinnamon sugar pretzel bites are a tasty treat that are quick and easy treat to make in the air fryer using frozen pizza dough.
Ingredients
16ouncesfrozen pizza doughat room temperature
½cupbaking soda
4cupswaterplus 1 teaspoon water
1large egg
¼cupunsalted buttermelted
½cupgranulated sugar
1Tablespoonground cinnamon
Instructions
Add water and baking soda to a small saucepan. Heat on low, stirring until the baking soda dissolves. Keep on low while preparing the dough.
Separate the dough into 4 sections. Roll each section into ropes about 1 ½ inch in diameter, then cut into 1-inch pieces.
Drop several pieces of dough into the baking soda bath at a time and remove with a slotted spoon after 10-15 seconds. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet or sheet of parchment paper.
Preheat your Air Fryer to 390° F. While the Air Fryer is heating. make an egg wash by beating an egg with 1 teaspoon of water in a small bowl. Brush the egg wash onto the dough pieces.
Spray the airfryer basket with non-stick cooking spray and place the dough pieces into the basket with some space in between each. Air fry for 5-6 minutes at 390° F, until lightly browned on top. Depending on the size of your air fryer you will likely have to cook them in a couple of batches.
While the pretzels are cooking, prepare your cinnamon-sugar mixture by stirring together sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
Transfer cooked pretzels to a sheet of parchment paper (for easy cleanup). Dip each bite in butter, shake off excess, and roll in cinnamon sugar.
Serve warm or at room temperature, plain or with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
If your dough is sticky you can add some flour to make it easier to work with.You can roll your dough pieces into balls or leave them as cut bites for a more traditional pretzel bite shape. The important thing is to make sure they’re the same size so they cook evenly.Leftovers can be stored at room temperature for up to two days in an airtight container or bag. Enjoy at room temperature or reheat in the air fryer at 300 degrees for 2 minutes, or until warmed through.
