You may not know it, but I like to get my game on from time to time. When I need a break from deal-hunting and freebie-snatching I enjoy nerding-out with my computer games. I recently decided to check out TROVE, a new voxel MMO that I have seen mentioned all over the place and compared to Minecraft.
TROVE is free to play, and is available for both PC and Mac. Download, installation, and start up took me all of 5 minutes (tops) and I was ready to enter the world of TROVE. In the opening sequence I learned about the battle between the Sun Goddess and the evil, jealous, Moon Goddess who has cast the world into darkness. The Sun Goddess has prevailed but the Moon Goddess has left behind some lingering danger that I must attend to!
The character selections were humorous and I found it difficult to choose between the Neon Ninja and the Candy Barbarian, but I decided to go with the Neon Ninja in the end, because clearly Ninjas are more hardcore than Barbarians.
Once I created my character I was off to explore my first realm. After visiting the Barber Shop for a makeover (JaclynAnne the Neon Ninja needed to look more feminine), defeating my first enemy, and collecting my first treasure, I was ready to go to the next realm.
There is a chat box going in the bottom left corner of the screen, but to be honest I didn't get into chatting with other players yet, as I like to explore for myself for a bit and gain experience before I start chatting.
Between exploring endless realms, conquering enemies, collecting treasure, and building a realm of my own, I think this game could keep me busy for quite a while. Will I play every day? No, frankly because I do not get that much free time. But when I do find myself with some free time to unwind, I will be back in the realms exploring and building a castle fit for a Neon Ninja.
If you are looking to nerd out for a bit, I would definitely recommend checking out TROVE. Since TROVE is free to play, you really have got nothing to lose. You can download Trove here.
TROVE says it best: “It's never been this good to be square!”
