Showering. It is something that we all do every day. But did you know that there are several common misconceptions when it comes to showering and cleansing your skin?! I’m excited to be partnering with Dove to share the surprising truth behind these common shower myths.
The common shower myths below are brought to you by Dove Dermatologist Dr. Mona Gohara.
Myth: Tight skin is normal.
Truth: Tight skin is a sign that you are using the wrong products in the shower. Dove doesn’t leave behind that dry, tight feeling that ordinary soaps can, which can be a sign of dry skin damage. Dove cleans beautifully and won’t strip away skin’s moisture like soap can. I love how soft Dove Beauty Bar leaves my skin feeling!
Myth: You don’t need to moisturize oily skin.
Truth: Skin needs hydration to stay healthy, regardless of skin type. Typical soap products can strip away skin’s moisture, but Dove Beauty Bar cleanses skin without stripping it of the moisture and nutrients that it needs. In fact, Dove Beauty Bar is formulated with the brand’s signature ¼ moisturizing cream with skin natural lipids to help replenish nutrients lost during the cleansing process.
Myth: After showering you should be left with a “squeaky clean” feeling
Truth: A recent Dove survey found that 86% of dermatologists report that the “squeaky clean” feeling means your skin might be stripped of the moisture and nutrients it needs. Unlike basic soap bars, Dove Beauty Bar gently but effectively cleanses, leaving soft, smooth skin.
I love how Dove Beauty Bar gently but effectively cleanses my skin, leaving it soft and smooth, rather than “squeaky.” Whenever I travel I make sure to bring a Dove Beauty Bar with me so that I won’t be stuck using any other cleansing product!
Myth: Hot water is best.
Truth: Hot showers can strip skin of its natural moisturizing oils and leave it dry and sensitive. It is best to use warm water that isn’t too hot so that your skin stays well hydrated.
Myth: Rough scrubbing is effective.
Truth: Harder scrubbing doesn’t equal cleaner skin. Scrubbing too harshly and using rough loofahs can actually damage skin. Treat your skin gently and use a light hand when cleansing and exfoliating. Your skin will thank you.
