I am receiving 12 weeks of the Nutrisystem® Uniquely Yours plan for myself and my husband in return for our honest review. All opinions are 100% our own.

NSNation Blogger

My husband and I have just completed our 12th week on the Nutrisystem program. While I typically wait until the end of each post to reveal the numbers, this week I want to look at them right from the get-go.

Progress towards our weight loss goals

12-Week Nutrisystem Program Weight Loss Goals:

  • Jaclyn: 25 pounds
  • Neal: 20 pounds

The weigh-in:

  • Jaclyn: + 1 lbs this week
  • Neal: -1 lbs this week

Total progress toward our goal after 12 weeks on Nutrisystem:

  • Jaclyn: 23.8 down, 1.2 shy of goal
  • Neal: 26.8 down, surpassed goal my 6.8 pounds

The Bad News: A Pound Gained

I gained a pound. I weighed myself about 5 times just to be sure I wasn’t seeing things. Working so hard and then seeing that you gained a pound is not very fun at all. It really upset me, especially since I was sooooo close to my goal.

I am not going to let this week’s set back get me too discouraged. I know that body weight fluctuates and it was bound to happen at some point. But on our last week of our 12-week program? Really?!

The Good News (Part 1): We lost 50 pounds.

Luckily, the good news outweighs the bad. In 12 weeks I managed to lose 23.8 pounds, which is just about 2 pounds per week!

Neal lost 26.8 pounds which is over 2 pounds per week.

Combined we lost 50 pounds in just 12 weeks on the Nutrisystem program. That is crazy awesome!

The Good News (Part 2): Neal achieved his goal weight.

Neal had set out to lose 20 pounds, and he met and even surpassed his goal.  He has dropped 2 pants sizes, and even his new pants are baggy on him. He looks great, feels great, and most importantly, he is healthier!

The Good News (Part 3): A Healthy BMI

Neal has been impressing people left and right with his weight loss. During a visit to his doctor the doctor weighed him twice to make sure he hadn’t made a mistake. The doctor was very impressed with the amount of weight Neal lost since his last visit just a few months back. His doctor told him that he is now in the healthy BMI range, which is awesome. I am so proud of his dedication and progress!

I, on the other hand, still have a ways to go before I can say that I have a healthy BMI. I have been very successful on the Nutrisystem Program and made a lot of progress towards my ultimate weight loss goals, but to be honest I still have more work to do.

At the onset of the Nutrisystem program I sat down and computed what a healthy BMI would be for myself and hubby. It turned out that Neal needed to lost 20 pounds to reach a healthy BMI, so we set that as both his ultimate goal and as his 12-week goal.

I needed to lose a total of 85 pounds to get myself to a healthy BMI. Since 85 pounds is far from a realistic 12-week goal, I reached out to my Nutrisystem Counselor for advice on how much weight I should attempt to lose in my 12 weeks on the program. She explained that I should set a goal of losing not more than 1-2 pounds per week. So, I decided on 25 pounds as a healthy and realistic goal for 12 weeks on the program. Yes, I know that 25 lbs is a touch over 2 pounds per week but what can I say? I always was an overachiever!

Now that I am down 23.8 lbs I am thinking ahead about those 62 additional pounds that I need to lose. Which brings me to my next bit of good news…

The Good News (Part 4): Continuing Nutrisystem

What better way to keep working towards my weight loss goals then to keep on doing what works?! That’s right, more Nutrisystem baby! While Neal has “retired” from Nutrisystem after having met his goal, I am super excited to be able to announce that I will be continuing on the Nutrisystem Program through at least the end of the year! I am so excited to keep working towards my goals, and I will be back each week to share my progress with all of you.

Thank you for your continued support!

Week 13, bring it on!

Congratulations to both of you! As my doctor tells me, you didn’t gain all the weight in 3 months. Slow but sure! Wishing you only the best as you continue on the program!
